Potty News?

We previously reported that Wallingford is expecting huge crowds this Fourth of July due to the cancellation of the only other in city fireworks display at Elliot Bay. Wallingford leaders were trying to rally local businesses to sponsor port-a-potties to help relieve the crowds as they streamed through our little 'hood. Since then, Kara, president of the Wallingford Chamber, told us the quest for port-a-potty sponsors is close to complete. Unfortunately, after weeks of pestering her, we've been unable to get…

Rescue Rope

Flashing blue and red lights in our dark hallway are never a good sign. Peered out the front window to see a handful of police cars out on the Ship Canal Bridge. We twittered, asking if anyone knew what was up. @dacort responded: There was a "Rescue Rope" earlier tonight (http://bit.ly/O0jUg), which usually means somebody was threatening to jump. :-\ The web site he links to is a live feed of 911 activity that includes this line: 6/22/2009 8:46:42 PM F090057597…

JSIS Anomaly

Many kids from the previous year will see their older and younger peers head off to the neighborhood school each morning, but, because they entered kindergarten at the most competitive time, they'll bussed off elsewhere: The neighborhood will now experience a very…

Reminder: Chickens, Goats and Bees

Reminder, Sunday's Wallingford Walk will take ambulators through four Wallingford urban farms, sporting chickens, goats and, compliments of yours truly, bees. We'll be opening up the hive to take a look inside, plus sampling some different honeys at our place. The walk starts at 1 pm at Tully's and continues through the neighborhood from there. See you tomorrow.
