Bridge Closures

Should you be thinking of biking or walking home after an evening of carousing in Eastlake come April, think twice: SEATTLE- SDOT’s contractor who is painting the University Bridge will need full bridge closures on at least three consecutive weekends in April. The contractor will close the bridge to all traffic (motor vehicles, bicycles and pedestrians) from midnight Friday to 6 a.m. Saturday, and from midnight Saturday to 6 a.m. Sunday, on the weekends of April 11 -12, April 18 -…

QFC Update

More updates on the QFC expansion project we covered last week (QFC Expansionism). In response to some of the concerns, Kristin Maas, the QFC Public Affairs Director, wrote: Prior to beginning this project, we had a 3rd party research group conduct focus groups with QFC shoppers, community members/neighbors and our store associates.  Three customer focus groups walked through the store during the interview with a moderator.  They were asked what they would like to see from this remodel.  We have incorporated…

Singin’ for the Chillun’

A couple weekends ago, Mrs. Wallyhood and Baby Z went to a two-year-old's birthday party at a friend's house over here in East Wallingford. The hit of the party was a Jana Vitols, a children's music teacher who led a round of singing and banging for the chillun' and adults alike. I hear that Yogalife is looking for a third location. It would be great if that was Wallingford! -A neighbor that wants to walk to yoga class. We agree. Sutra owners Amber and Colin run Rain…

A Touch of Class for Wallingford

Frequest Wallyhood tipster John Scott Tynes sent us this note with a picture: There were those who thought the sign for High Maintenance Bitch was inappropriate for Wallingford. They're going to love its replacement -- the new cigar shop has hung its sign and it's a doozy. It's like the Playboy Bunny mudflap silhouette stood up, put on cowboy boots, and took up pipe smoking. We're thankful he was able to explain it, because frankly, we're speechless.
