Welcome LaurelPost

Wallyhood welcome LaurelPost, the Laurelhurst Neighborhood Blog, to the neighborhood blogging cabal. Their inaugural post was March 17th, not coincidentally the last day the Seattle Post-Intelligencer was available in print. Produced by Front Seat, a socially responsible and activist software company, we're sure they'll be a fine addition to the community building efforts going on across the city. Now, where's our invitation to go out on your boat?

Jhanjay Jamboree Review

We practiced vegetarianism for many years, 23 in all, before we finally gave it up and ordered a steak at El Gaucho's and had done with it. Why, after all those long years of fastidious self-denial, did we jump from the wagon? Honestly, we were hungry. Not in the "I haven't eaten all day" sense, but, rather, in the "I'm so tired of eating beans and rice and cheese for protein, I want a meal that's going to stick with me…

Do Shush, Babalu

Every so often, we'll revisit a post that attracted more than an average number of comments, and bubble some up to the main blog line. Wallingford Childcare Auction

No, no, they're not auctioning off childcare, although with the bundle of energy Baby Z is turning into, we would be willing to raise our paddle. Rather, the Wallingford Childcare center is holding a fundraising auction and are soliciting donations. Karen and Annie wrote: Our local Matters of the Heart auction is being held April 24.  This annual fundraiser is a joint effort of the Wallingford United Methodist Church and the Wallingford Childcare Center (nondenominational, nonprofit, housed in the church). Most families involved are…

And the winner is…

Thanks everyone for adding your votes and opinions on the Wallyhood Photo Contest. There was lots of admiration for all the photos and for the two finalists, but we have to choose a winner. And the winner is... Congratulations, Tracie. And congratulations to Jeff, for all his gorgeous submissions, including Watching over Meridian. And thanks one more time to Wallingford Photo Center and Frame Central for donating the prizes. We'd love to do this again, if there's interest. Any suggestions for…
