Makings: Journals of Grandma Tillie

Here's a bit of culture for your Thursday night: On Thursday August 7, San Francisco Bay Area based composer/musician Jesse Olsen Bay will perform his new song cycle Makings, as part of the Wayward Music Series at the Good Shepherd Center’s Chapel Performance Space, 4649 Sunnyside Ave N, Seattle. Makings is an original song cycle, based on unpublished writings by Bay’s grandmother, legendary author/activist Tillie Olsen. Mosaic No More

Mark Woodward, Pastor at the Seattle First Church of the Nazerene, writes: After 7.5 years serving the community, Mosaic Coffeehouse is taking some time off to reassess how to serve our community. Trees for Neighborhoods

Hey folks, ready to return Wallingford to its pre-civilization sylvan roots? You can't, that horse has left the barn. Free Meals at the Club

Greetings, Wallingford! My name is Anna, and I work with United Way of King County on their One Million Meals Campaign. Volunteers served 490,000 meals last Summer, and, this year, we want…

Thanks, Wallingford!

Thanks to all the great Seattle Night Out parties that welcomed Zev and I! We had a ball playing in bouncy houses and drinking mojitos (we didn't both do both, obviously), firing water balloon catapults, biking down driveways, and enjoying rabbit paella washed down with cthulhu elixir. It was a great opportunity to meet so many people who live in the neighborhood, and to hear what's on people's minds. Not surprisingly, there was concern over the car prowls and packages disappearing from…

Night Out!

It's upon us! Seattle Night Out is tonight, Tuesday August 5th, 6  - 9 pm. Grab your cole slaw, grab your two buck chuck, and take to the streets! A friend of mine over in the Central District just told me about how their block organized an e-mail list after a Seattle Night Out, and used it to let each other know that someone was stealing packages from doorsteps. One person posted a description of the vehicle they thought had done…
