Proposed Permanent (?!) Fix for Metro

Every couple of years we post about proposed cuts to Metro bus service and how those cuts will impact Wallingford. The last round of proposed cuts had the ever popular Route 26 slated for shuttering, which resulted in numerous vocal transit riders (my family included) barraging beleaguered Metro staff people at their "open house" sessions at QFC. Thankfully Route 26 was saved from the chopping block. Lower Wallingford in particular breathed a huge sigh of relief. Knowing that this time of year is…

Stoneway Subway

Joey Donato writes: Hey this probably isn't a big news story.  But a new Subway and their $5 footlongs opened up at 42nd and Stone Way just yesterday.  I live right next to it, so it's a big deal to me. It is very helpful to receive observations like yours from community members who see how…

Hawaiian Breeze

Hawaiian Breeze is not closed. They started a remodel about two weeks ago and have another month or so to go. In the meantime, you can still order off their menu for take-out through their sister store, Shima Sushi Bar, just around the corner. While you wait, you can entertain yourself with this Google Maps walk-through of the old restaurant itself. I'm fairly certain the faces aren't as blurry in real life.

Super Bowl Wallingford

So, yeah, the Seahawks are in the Super Bowl for the second time ever. The odds-makers are calling a close game, with Denver eking out a 2.5 point victory. So where will you be watching? Obviously, bars up and down 45th Street will be kicking: Murphy's, The Iron Bull, The Octopus Bar, Al's Tavern, Kate's Pub and yes, Changes, will be hosting parties with drink specials and the like. Call for details, but it's a safe bet they'll all be opening…
