Apparenty, car prowlers aren’t the only ones slinking around Wallingford in the pre-dawn hours. Jenny writes:
Amazon Fresh now delivers to 98103! (Apparently, this has been true since November, but I have an 11-month-old and therefore live in a news vacuum, so I just learned it last week.) We got our first delivery last week. The good people at AF arrived before dawn, set two large, colorful tubs of groceries outside our door, and tiptoed away all ninjalike without disturbing us. When we woke in the morning, there was our food! The cold stuff was kept cold with dry ice,…Bottleworks 10th Anniversary
Tomorrow (Wednesday) is Bottleworks’ 10th anniversary, and they’re celebrating by releasing dozens of unique, cellared beers and specials, including New Belgium Bottleworks 10th Anniversary Wild Ale (2 bottle limit per customer / day), Hair of the Dog Matt (4 bottle limit), Elysian Icarus, Far West, Rogue Issaquah, Russian River Deviation and tons more. See the Bottleworks blog for details.
They recommend getting there at their 11 a.m. opening to get the good stuff. This is a beer nerd event, though, so rumors that the first 10 customers will be treated to keg stands are likely untrue.…

If you have had trouble posting comments to Wallyhood in the past, we’ve removed the word verification thingy that was causing the problems, so please try again. We’ve also got lots of other cool stuff in the works for Wallyhood, like community forums and calendar, so stay tuned and spread the word.…
Event Change: No Old Man and the Storm
Oops. We waxed all poetic about Katrina and the film Solid Ground was planning to show, Old Man and the Storm, but Robin just let us know that Solid Ground wasn’t able to get the film after all, so here’s what they’ve got:
Facilitated by Indigo Klyne, we will watch and discuss The End of Days, a 13-minute video created by Shaun Scott, which explores a century of African-American community building and civil rights activism in Seattle. Then we will view several snippets of oral history interviews with local African-Americans who have shared their experiences through the project.
Still noon …
Wallingford Chamber Mtg
This past Thursday, as those who follow Wallyhood on Twitter know, we had the mixed pleasure of attending the Wallingford Chamber of Commerce lunch at Ivar’s.
Arriving at noon sharp, we paid our $20, piled up our buffet plate high and found a seat between Shana from Archie McPhee’s (who kindly presented us with the amusing Archie McPhee’s tome Who Would Buy This) and a friendly woman from the Seattle Times (we barely managed to resist grasping her plate and asking “oh, you’re from print media? I’m from new media. May I eat your lunch?”)
Given the generic and already …
Car Prowl Stats

Bomb squad follow-up
No frickin’ way. They blew it up.
Phinneywood reports:
Update 11:50 a.m.: The suspicious package has been blown up.
Mike Veitenhans just told us (at 9:40 a.m.) that the bomb squad has closed off part of the trail around Green Lake because of a suspicious bag found on the trail.
The bomb squad has closed off the trail near the Bathhouse and the tennis courts on the west side and is using a robot to open the bag.
On an unrelated note, several residents of northwestern Wallingford report sneakers, gym socks and tennis balls mysteriously raining from above.
