Band Guest Scoopers at Molly Moon’s

According to the Stranger: Mt. St. Helens Vietnam Band are always looking for creative ways to promote themselves—weird videos, handmade CD cozies, and now they've partnered with Molly Moons and created their own flavor of ice cream. Mt. St. Helens Vietnam Band Ice Cream is "coconut ice cream with chocolate chunks and huckleberry sauce." It sounds awesome. They'll be guest-scoopers at Molly Moon's in Wallingford on Thursday, March 5th at 6 pm. Their CD release show is at Neumo's the following…

Thank you for smoking

Astute readers have noticed a new sign up in Wallingford. A cigar shop appears to be going in where High Maintenance Bitch went out. Michelle snapped a photo for us to gaze and wonder at. What are we wondering? Well, for starters, we'd like to know who thinks to themselves "gosh, we're in the midst of an economic meltdown and Washington State ranks 5th in the nation for non-smoking. Maybe I'll pick one of the crunchier, family-friendly neighborhoods in Seattle and…

Lunchbox Laboratory Update

In previous post, we asked Ballard to send Lunchbox Laboratory to Wallingford. Bubbling up this comment from Jenny: A phone call would have gotten you some real information. Owner Simpson has a non-compete for the 45th St. area that prevents him from opening a restaurant here. Fortunately, it expires this year. He's been actively looking for expansion sites, considering Fremont and the Eastside as well. And he does have his eye on the Beeline/Jitterbug space. OK, we'll do our homework next…

Pequeña Havana

Monday's plea to relocate Lunchbox Laboratory to Wallingford generated quite a bit of discussion (but, alas, no offer from Ballard to help LL move into that perfect spot the Loki Cafe has vacated). Hidden among the comments was Jason's revelation that SeaMonster is now serving Cuban sandwiches. Inspired, Doug consulted The Google and found the chef's blog, Pequeña Havana, where Angela, the chef, announced that they are open now, serving food between 9 pm and 2 am, including: Mariquitas [] The…

So tell us already! If you know of an event that's coming up, drop us a line at [email protected] and we'll get it added. If…

Red Rover, Send Lunchbox Laboratory Over

Dear Ballard: How are things? Good, good. Yeah, here too. Uh-huh. Anyhoo, we were wondering if you would be willing to send Lunchbox Laboratory over to Wallingford? I mean, given that we have Not A Number and we're getting Archie McPhee's from you, the whole kitschy-laboratory / 70's lunchbox theme thing is just a much better fit for us than it is for you, especially the way you have it stashed way up 15th near the Sands strip club. I know,…

Our new threads

Check out our new threads. We spent a little time this weekend changing our engine so we could start serving the Wallingford community better (e.g., adding a community calendar, which is still in the works). We took advantage of the opportunity to try on some new clothes, while we were at it. There may be a hiccup or two over the next couple days while we finish the switch, so bear with us.
