No Liquor Store Update

Jordan Jordan June 18, 2009 6 Comments

So’s ya knows, we pinged Anne Radford of the Washington State Liquor Control Board to see if she had an update on finding a new home for the liquor store Archie McPhee’s replaced. Her answer:

Not yet…we are still reviewing sites.

We’re still hoping Archie McPhee will start selling bathtub gin under the counter to tide us over.

Do you think that the old OfficeMax spot is too expensive or just too big? Right off the freeway and it has parking…

Since OfficeMax is in the North Alcohol Impact Area I’d be surprised if the city would want a liquor store there. Tweedy and Popp?

The PI had an article today about the state’s plan for liquor stores (including opening a lot more stores and adding more taxes)

For those who come hear in search of answers to the liquor shortage (like I just did), here’s a link to replace the broken PI one above: http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2009361170_apwaboozingthedeficit.html
“The plan will add a new liquor store every 60 days starting this fall, for a total of 15 new locations – 10 run by the state, 5 operated by contractors.”
So maybe we need to wait for fall?
