Can Fire

Here’s another “What have we sunk to?” item.

Here are pics of the second trash can that has been burned up at Meridian Park by the restrooms. The first time it was just the lid. Someone couldn’t figure out that there are real fire receptacles available to have a bit of a fire in just across the park. That was a month or two ago.

Now, someone has burned up the entire can, lid and all. Seems to me that to get a trash can this melted would require some “help” of some sort. Ask a fire investigator. Is this the work of the crazy yoots that hold late night parties, though it sure isn’t summer now and the drunken parties surely have subsided? Or is it our inebriated transient population trying to get warm, and they, too, can’t figure out that there are real fire receptacles in the area (see earlier articles about the AIA concerns)? Or is it someone tuning up for bigger arson escapades in our neighborhood??

If anyone heard or saw anything further about this, they should let the fire department know. The “Non-Emergency Number” is 206-625-5011. We don’t want to see a duplication of the tragedies that our neighbors in Greenwood have been seeing.

Good grief! Can fire, wheels stolen off a car, and Saturday night a fight broke out in front of Babalu and one of the participants, ushered away from the front door by friends, went about punching the storefront windows @ Cutz and Edward Jones — shattering the EJ window. Ridiculous.

I heard this morning that the police have arrested someone concerning the Greenwood arsons. Hope this is a good lead in stopping these terrible arsons.
