Wallingford mojo is back!

Jordan Jordan December 23, 2009 5 Comments

This just in: the emblematic W A L L I N G F O R D sign that rests on top of the QFC at the top of Wallingford Ave is back!

It ain’t Iwo Jima, but it’s a beautiful site. Wallingford, we’ve got our mojo back!

We also hear that the Starbucks-powered coffee shop that QFC is opening on their second floor is now open for business, though only in the evenings so far.

(Thanks to Dan for the tip and Angie for the photo!)

From our window, we can see huge letters hovering in mid-air over the QFC. Quite a sight!

    Thanks for the tip!

Yay the sign is back!! Boo for Starbucks being the cafe in the new space. The new QFC has a very “suburban” feel to it now. And what’s with the registers blocking the front doors?

Well, it’s good to see the sign back (wish I’d seen it going up), but I’ve always maintained that if they were truly going to pay tribute to our beloved FOOD GIANT sign (ok, make that FOO ANT), they’d turn some letters off, so it it said
    WALLI FO D.

And ditto to the Starbucks cafe (haven’t seen it yet, but do we really need another one two blocks away?). I’m still wishing they had just let Cafe Piace lease the space.

Don’t know about the rest of you, but I’m also hating the layout of the store. I guess I’ll get used to it, but I’m so tired of trying to figure out where to find things. It just doesn’t make sense to my internal shopper!

I always thought WALLINGFOOD would be most appropriate. They’ve apparently stopped with “RD” for the moment, though.

Agree with you 100% re: Starbucks. As to the QFC layout, it is confusing, but I also suspect that some of it is still temporary, until they have all their usable space available. (The traffic jams next to the flower stand are really annoying.)
