Adam’s Elementary Auction

Jordan Jordan January 15, 2010 Comments are off

Hot on the heels of the request for auction donations for the Meridian School, Jacqui writes:

Adams Elementary is one of Wallingford’s SISD cluster schools, and the only public elementary in the Northwest to feature complete arts integration in its curriculum. The arts curriculum is funded by the PTA, which in turn is largely funded by our annual auction:

Adams Elementary School Students Reach for the Stars – and the Paintbrush

Music fills the art-adorned halls long before the first bell rings at Adams Elementary, an arts-integrated school located in the heart of Ballard. Smiling faces surge toward their classrooms surrounded by influences ranging from Monet and Warhol to The Very Hungry Caterpillar.Adams Elementary is one of the few public elementary schools in the U.S., and the only public elementary school in the Seattle Independent School District (SISD), to fully-integrate visual art, music, dance and soon theater into everyday curricula. In addition to dedicated music classes and ongoing art projects, other subjects, including standards such as math and English, are taught with a fine arts flair.

The Adams PTA funds a portion of the materials, training and support required to keep the arts alive at Adams. The school’s annual Silent Auction, in turn, provides a large portion of the PTA’s annual budget. The school relies on donations of goods and services to be auctioned off during the fund-raising event.

Tough economic conditions are taking a toll on this year’s procurement period, with donations falling far short of the modest goals set for donation levels. We are reaching out to the community to ask for help keeping the fine arts alive at this very special elementary school.

The auction team is seeking donations of goods, gift cards/certificates or services that can be placed for auction. All donations are tax-deductible (to the extent allowed by the IRS) and may be delivered to the school office during regular business hours. (More information can be found at http://adams.maestroweb.com/.)

The public is also invited to play with us at the Adams Elementary Silent Auction, 1-4 p.m. Saturday, March 13 at the Ballard Community Center. This family friendly event includes children’s activities, face painting, and more.

Please help us keep the arts alive at Adams Elementary!
