McDonald School Meet ‘n Greet with Principal Grinager

Margaret Margaret February 22, 2010 3 Comments

With our new school levies passed, it’s official that Wallyhood will have another elementary school.  McDonald School will open this fall in its temporary location, at the Lincoln High School site (4400 Interlake Avenue North), while the school’s building on 54th and Latona goes under some serious renovation for the next two years.

If your children have been assigned to McDonald School, you’ll want to head over to Lincoln on Thursday night, February 25 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. to meet newly-appointed Principal Cheryl Grinager.

Grinager comes from Green Lake Elementary, where she served as Principal for 10 years.  Prior to her tenure at Green Lake, she spent 13 years as a teacher and administrator for schools in Northern California.

Seattle Public Schools Superintendent Maria Goodloe-Johnson sent this letter to the McDonald School Community, announcing Principal Grinager’s appointment.  McDonald School will serve grades K-5 and will have full time Kindergarten.  McDonald School will host an open house on Saturday, March 6, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., also at the Lincoln High School site.

Just a clarification: from the emails I’ve received, McDonald will have full *and* half day kindergarten. Full-day will not be free as it is at JSIS.
And as an aside: according to SPS, there will be about 90 (!) kindergartners there! Survey results show a different number, though, so we will just have to see.

    90 kids! Holy Smokes!

It’s my understanding that SPS will institute a standard, district-wide full-day Kindergarten fee of $207 per month.

@shal – that’s interesting, do you have a link that shows that info? Most of the time, SPS won’t provide info on the number of students at any school (my experience.)
