Wallingford is Re-Lit

The iconic sign is back in action. Alan Johnson, store manager, had the honor of ‘flipping the switch’. People lined the sidewalk and parking lot all around snapping photos. The moment was just shy of perfection with the the blue outline of the ‘W’ not lighting. However, some quick action by the electrical contractor on site got it fired up within minutes to light up Wallingford center.

Aidell’s2010_2_2_WallingfordLighting-8225 BBQ was on-site providing hot dogs with all proceeds going to Red Cross efforts in Haiti. QFC is also hosting BBQ’s this Saturday and Sunday (2-6pm) with Boar’s Head hot dogs, proceeds again going to the Red Cross efforts in Haiti.

This lighting marks the completion of the QFC renovation. Below are photos of the ceremony along with some of the new store features.

Special Note: The ‘WALLINGFORD’ T-shirt being worn by Lena Klarnet is available at Not A Number Gifts.

I humbly suggest to buy your gelato across the street at Fainting Goat Gelato…a great business that has been featured on this blog!

I completely agree with gibby……I totally understand capitalism and our open market system(no pun intended), but for the life of me I can not understand why QFC would put in a GELATO freezer to compete with both the above referenced business (great local people trying to add something special to our community) to say nothing of Quan Yen on a more limited basis. I suggest that shopers make a point of speaking to the cashiers and store manager to voice displeasure…..in all other repspects the staff at QFC have worked especially hard under difficult conditions to keep the store running during this transitional time….hope they are compensated in some special way!!!!!
