Crime scene

Jordan Jordan April 23, 2010 6 Comments

A reader asks:

What’s going on between 39th and 40th on Sunnyside?  There’s lots of cops, dogs and crime scene tape. They were blocking off 40th and when the cop asked me to turn around, he said “we’re working on something here.”

What’s the neighborhood buzz?

Don’t know about that crime scene, BUT a diaper bag containing a green wallet was stolen out of a van parked in handicaped space this morning at 49th & Wallingford between approx. 8:45 am and noon.  Bag was found sans wallet in front of St. Ben’s parish center.  School parent with child in a wheelchair – how low can that be? Anyone finding a green wallet in the vicinity can drop it off at St. Ben’s school or parish office. Lock Your Doors, people!

I drove by earlier today and saw 3 cops inspecting a wooden box left underneath the mailbox on 40th.

I found a bag this morning in front of my house on Sunnyside with workout clothes, a book, and lots of shards of glass. I pretty sure that someone had their window broken out and it was stolen. One of the shards had Hyundai on it.
There wasn’t any personal info in the bag, but fortunately, there is a reminder for a Seattle Orthopedic Center appointment. On Monday I’ll call them and see if they’ll take the bag and return it to the woman who it belongs to when she returns for her follow-up appointment.

I found a large bag on my front lawn this morning full of sporting goods. No name anywhere. I called the police, they picked it up straight away.

People will break into your car for almost anything. A big bag full of stuff is irresistable.

Keep your car super clean on the inside! Don’t assume that stuff in the trunk is safe– once inside the cabin there is usually a way to get into the trunk. If you have a way to secure the trunk from the inside, do it. For example,  if you have locking rear fold down seats, lock them. Lock the mechanism that releases the trunk lid from the inside, if you can. Lock the glove box. Do not put the second key or valet key in the glovebox: that’s the first place they will look.

Personally, I’ve been taking small amounts of rat poison over the last several months to build up a tolerance to it. Pretty soon I’ll be able to coat the entire inside of my car with a huge amount of it. I’ll just have to push the bodies out of the car in the morning. A small price to pay for keeping my property secure!

Andy, you were doing great there with good ideas….
Then you drove the crazy car right into the ship canal.
    I like it!
