Wallingford Weekend Roundup

Liz April 2, 2010 3 Comments

There’s plenty going on in honor of Easter this weekend (see our Wallingford Easter weekend round-up), but there are some non-bunny related happenings, as well. Here are some quick highlights:
  • Music and Dance
    • Zachary Watkins and Tiffanny Lin : “Movable, long commutes between loved ones, music for motors and resonant strings is the elusive yet evocative title for the new composition by Bay Area composer Zachary James Watkins. This new evening length work, premiered by Seattle pianist Tiffany Lin, is scored for retuned piano and a new mechanical extension called the Piano Monster built by NYC artist… (Read More)” Friday, Apr 2nd at The Chapel Performance Space at the Good Shepherd Center
    • Funky2Death: Woogie D(drums/vox), JABRiL(guitar), Mark Mattre(bass), and guests like FUNKSCRIBE, and Matt Alston jammin out some freaky funky music. Friday, Apr 2nd at SeaMonster
    • World Beats: Babalu kicks off a regular Friday night World Beats party this April 2nd, “featuring live music by renowned World Music bands and DJs every week” (More info)
    • Dance Perdue presents “Atrocity” on Saturday Night, a Butoh performance at the Good Shepherd Center: “…based on original writing by Alex Ruhe and inspired by the nakedly empathetic witnessing of everyday violence by artists and writers such as our teacher Atsushi Takenouchi, founder of Jinen butoh; William T. Vollman, J.G. Ballard, Kathe Kollwitz and Francis Bacon (to name a few). We open ourselves to our own violence and desire for sacrifice and subjugation… (More info)”

We welcome Tyrone Brown as director to this amazing movement to end violence against women. Witty and irreverent, compassionate and wise, giving voice to women’s deepest feelings.”

Tickets are $16 – $20 and $13 for those under 30. You can purchase tickets at brownpapertickets.com or Stone Soup office (206) 633 – 1883

And, at the Guild 45th Theatre (Buy tickets online here):

Thanks for the Guild 45th listings. Is it possible to list which theater each movie is in? As the Blue theater to the west has the crying room. That’s the one my husband and I use now to see movies with Baby A. I’m not sue how many people know about the crying room, but it has allowed us to continue going to movies since the baby arrived. There is one at the Metro and one at the Varsity too

@Latonamom I actually got this info from their website, but haven’t walked by today to see which is in which theater.

Maybe they’d let you use the crying room in the Blue theater even if you’re in the other show? 🙂

I’m pretty sure Ghost Writer is in the Blue Theatre – I checked it out when my family and I were walking by the other day, on the way home from seeing Hot Tub Time Machine in the cry room at the Metro 🙂

The Guild 45th cry room is much nicer I think – haven’t checked out the one at the Varsity.
