Pinwheel Wind Farm

Jordan Jordan April 18, 2010 Comments are off

If you’re out and about in Green Lake today (by the community center), be sure to check out the Pinwheel Wind Farm sponsored by Coolmom.org:

Joggers, dog-walkers and playground players will discover a wind farm near the playground at Green Lake between noon and 3 pm on Sunday April 18th. In celebration of Earth Day, CoolMom.org and The Sierra Club will create a mini renewable energy station comprised of hundreds of colorful pinwheels, handmade by children across Seattle.

Volunteers will be on-hand with supplies for making and installing more pinwheels throughout the afternoon. Passersby will be encouraged to create their own pinwheels to add to the wind farm. They can also learn about the Beyond Coal campaign, which aims to make Washington the first coal-free state in the U.S. by closing down the TransAlta coal plant and transitioning to clean energy sources and green jobs.
