Frolicking Fun this Friday at the Fremont 5K

The Fremont 5K is easily my most favorite road race in town–it’s convenient, it’s mostly flat, the weather’s usually mild, and it has a beer garden.

Undoubtedly, the most humorous part of the event is watching the participants in the Briefcase Relay that takes place just prior to the 5K Walk/Run.  Teams of five are dressed in business attire from the waist up, and each team member runs a kilometer carrying the team’s briefcase which, until this year, held the Seattle Yellow Pages.  But this year, teammates will have to carry 5 cans of food in the briefcase, which will then be donated to FamilyWorks.

The Briefcase Relay starts this Friday at 6:00 PM, followed by the 5K Walk/Run at 7:00 PM. The start of the race is on 34th, next to Adobe Plaza.  You have until 11:59 PM on Wednesday to register for $30.00 online; otherwise, it’s $40.00 on the day of the race.
