Tomorrow At The Farmers Market

Margaret Margaret August 17, 2010 5 Comments

Tomorrow’s Wednesday, and it looks like our blazing summer skies will once again be dulled by that gross gray we’ve been graced with far too much this year.  Not to worry though, because rain or shine, the Wallingford Farmers Market will be set up on the Wallingford Center parking lot from 3-7 p.m.  As an added bonus, if you make a purchase at the Farmers Market, you can take advantage of the 10% discount at participating retailers inside.

Eva Restaurant’s Amy McCray will do a cooking demo at the Market from 4-5 p.m., and we’ve heard through the organic grapevine that she is masterful with local produce.  Blueberry pound cake with house made blueberry ice cream anyone?

I haven’t seen any pickling cucumbers at the market yet. Did I miss them, or am I just too early? Has anyone seen them anywhere else at a descent price?

Check with New Roots Organics, she can order organic just about anything, fabulous quality. (They are in Fremont/Ballard, deliver weekly.)

@Cathy, about 700 people like you read Wallyhood as an e-mail, which rolls up the last 24 hours of posts and delivers around 6:00 pm each day. But remember, another 1,300 people read it on the web site or an RSS reader as each article is published, so they get each article in a much more timely way. That’s why you sometimes see articles that seem “too late”: they weren’t too late when they were published, it’s just that you’ve chosen to wait for the e-mail, which takes longer.

But I think I kind of like the idea of waiting for the news. It harkens back to a time before the 10 second news cycle, CNN rolling headlines and Twitter. It’s like getting the Saturday Evening Post. Savor it.

Yes, you’re right, Cathy. This first appeared on Wallyhood last night.
