Elemental is closing

  • Post author:

Shalini over at Eater Seattle tells us that Elemental and Elemental Next Door (3309 Wallingford Avenue North) will close on June 21. Co-owner Laurie Riedeman told Eater that their lease is up and that “she and her business partner (Phred Westfall) have decided to explore new challenges.”

I’ve never been to Elemental, but Jordan and his wife ventured down there in January, and wrote about the experience. Worth the read if you’re considering dining there before it closes.

Thanks for the tip, Shalini!

I hope that there are good things ahead for Laurie Riedeman and Phred Westfall in their next ventures.

And I really hope there are good things ahead for this space. I understand that Elemental was enjoyable for some patrons, but I sure can’t count myself among them. (Two “dining experiences,” with cuisine that managed to be both precious and dull at the same time, along with incomprehensible service, were enough for me, lol.)

We look to the future. It’s a great location, and I’d welcome a new, considerate, and customer-focused (you can be friendly without being obsequious) restaurant. We’ll be keeping an eye on the place in hopes of a new operation!

I enjoyed two dinners there – a unique, fun dining experience that you can’t have anywhere else. If you’ve been on the fence about going, go, and get the wine pairings. It’s fun, interesting, delicious, and great value.

    Bummer, I love both places.

Make sure you don’t have to get up early the next morning if you get the wine pairing at Elemental …!

So sad. Wallingphord’s little secret. I wish Phred a phond pharwell.

very good food, but the arrangements of tables was trying. I remember having my neighbor served by the waitress with her armpit right above my head. Maybe I am old fashioned, but it was not appetizing.

I do wish them well in future enterprises.

Oh no!!!! I am so sad. This has been my favorite restaurant for years.
