Wallyhood’s Pumpkin Carving Contest

Margaret Margaret October 12, 2010 1 Comment

Pac-o'-Lantern

Last year, a neighbor’s teenage son from up the street made the coolest Mario Jack-o’-lantern I’d ever seen; and the more I looked around while trick or treating with the kids, the more super awesomely cool pumpkin carvings I saw.  We’ve definitely got some talented folk here in Wallingford.

And now we’d like to put your pumpkin carving skills to the test with our first annual Wallyhood Pumpkin Carving Contest.  Our good friends over at Archie McPhee have put together some great prize packages for us to hand out to the winners of five different categories:

  • Scariest
  • Funniest
  • Most appropriate for Wallingford
  • Most political; and
  • Readers choice

All you need to do is e-mail us a snapshot of your masterpiece now through Sunday, October 24.  We’ll put together a slide show of entries on Wallyhood and post ’em during the week leading up to Halloween so readers can choose their favorite carving.

We’ll announce the winners on October 31.

But wait, there’s more!

We’re also opening the contest to kids and we’ve created five categories for their designs:

  • Funniest
  • Scariest
  • Coolest design
  • Most structurally-stable pumpkin when you’re finished; and
  • Readers choice

The winners in each of the five kid categories will also win a prize from Archie McPhee!

Send your Jack-o’-lantern pics to us at blog(at)wallyhood.org.  And even if you don’t feel like carving up a pumpkin this year, check out our slide show of entries and vote on your favorite ones!
