Wallingford wading pool closes next Friday

Doesn’t it feel like summer just started? And yet here we are, reporting that the wading pool over at the Wallingford Playfield closes in just one week. Rats. Boo. Phooey.

Well, the good news is that the season was supposed to end today; but since we’ve had such a craptastic summer, Seattle Parks and Rec has decided to extend the season by three more days. Next week, the wading pool will be open Wednesday-Friday (8/24-8/26) from noon to 7pm, if the weather forecasts call for 70 degree temps. You can always call the wading pool hotline on the day of for the most up-to-date info: (206)684-7796.

Incidentally, I love our wading pool’s lifeguard this year. He’s an older gentleman with a penchant for Motown, Funk, and Disco, and his music turns the whole wading pool into a giant baby rave. I’ve been especially appreciative of “Disco Inferno” (Burn, Baby, Burn) because it always serves as a reminder to slather up the kiddos with more sunscreen. Thanks, Mr. Lifeguard!

Not sure what planet y’all are living on but I think we’ve had a fine summer. My grass is all turning yellow as usual for this time of year. Just because the weatherman points out that it hasn’t been above 80 that much doesn’t mean the weather’s been crap. Looking out my window this morning….looks like another beautiful, sunny day in Wallingford!

And so it is, Brian! I agree this has been a gorgeous summer. We couldn’t believe it actually got warm enough for picnics BEFORE the 4th of July! What’s not to like about that?
