Celebrate harvest season with Seattle Tilth

  • Post author:

September’s here, which means it’s time to celebrate harvest season at Seattle Tilth’s Harvest Fair 2011. The fair is next weekend, on Saturday, September 10, from 10:00am – 4:00pm at Meridian Park, and oh boy, have they outdone themselves this year with an impressive lineup of events suitable for all ages:

Urban Livestock

Meet folks who raise chickens, goats, and bees and find out what it takes to make milk, eggs and honey. They’ll also have a cider press onsite so you can bring your own apples for cider.

Huge Organic Farmer’s Market

Stock up on the season’s best produce from local organic farmers. Buy your veggie starts and native plants.

Hands-on Workshops

Learn how to save seeds, grow your own mushrooms, choose the perfect goat, or ferment your food. Here’s a complete schedule of workshops happening throughout the day.

Plus, there will be live music all day long, book signings by local authors, a kids’ parade, puppet shows, and a raffle for your chance to win a complete chicken coop package or an urban farm starter kit.

Admission is free and voluntary donations are accepted. Wanna lend a helping hand? Volunteers are needed. Click here for more details.

(P.S. Come early at 9:00 am and have a Harvest Breakfast at the Wallingford COMMUNITY Senior Center inside of the Good Shepherd! We’ll give you full details in a separate post!)
