Satay Birthday Give-away

Margaret December 9, 2011 Comments are off

A big ol’ Wallyhood-style congratulations go out to Patrick McCredie and Peter and Peter Ringold of SATAY Malaysian Street Food (1711 N. 45th Street). SATAY opened for business on December 10 of last year. They’ve had a pretty decent year, too, being on The Food Network and getting some decent local press from Seattle Met and The Stranger. Pretty impressive when you consider these two guys decided to open a restaurant fresh out of college.

Patrick sent over an announcement that read,”This year has been an amazing journey building our business in the heart of Wallingford.  We’ve felt the love …

Wallingford Artists Online

Jordan December 9, 2011 6 Comments

Wow, who knew that there were so many practicing artists and craftspeople in Wallingford plying their trade on the Interwebs?

On Saturday, we asked for a show of hands from Wallingford artists who are selling their work on Etsy or through other on-line sites, here’s a round-up of the fabulousness that your neighbors are up to (just in time for the holidays). Many have indicated that they take custom piece and commission requests. If you see something you like, don’t forget to ask if you can save on shipping by picking up in person!

Damage to the bungalow behind Kitaro

Last night, scores of firefighters from all over Seattle descended on N. 45th Street at Densmore to put out the blaze that ripped through the top floor of the bungalow behind Kitaro shortly after 6:00pm. Thankfully, there were no injuries from the fire. King 5 reports that an elderly woman lived in the house and was evacuated to safety. At this point, the cause of the fire and where it originated is unknown. (update 1:47pm, sources from Wallingford Family Dentistry next door say that the fire was caused by an electric blanket, …

Fire at 1624 N. 45th St.

Margaret December 7, 2011 14 Comments

Helicopters are flying overhead and Seattle 911 reports a fire at 1624 N. 45th St (the building directly behind Kitaro Bento Sushi). We’ll keep you posted with details as we get them.

Update 6:47 pm Eyewitnesses tell us that it’s actually the building behind Kitaro and not the restaurant. The fire seems to be under control but we have folks tweeting that flames can still be seen on the roof.

Update 7:14 pm. KOMO news is reporting that there are no injuries from the fire. Here’s a link to their earlier video footage:
