Video Store Day

This Saturday (October 20) marks the second annual International Video Store Day! And where better to celebrate than our favorite independent video store (and Wallyhood sponsor) Scarecrow Video! Check out the day's festivities and in-store giveaways: Our 2012 Video Store Day festivities will feature a VHS Art Show with handmade work from a variety of local artists paying homage to the painted covers of the early days of home video. We’ll also have a special rental section of movies and TV…

Cowbell Jam

The Drum Exchange (4501 Interlake Ave. N.) is celebrating 20 years of business with a free celebration on Saturday, October 20th from 1 pm - 4 pm, including Seattle's largest cowbell jam and special guest appearance with Bruce "More Cowbell" Dickinson (a.k.a., actor/musician Tim J. Hickey, who apparently does an stunning impersonation of the Chrisopher Walken SNL character). Here's a bit about the shop: The seeds that sprouted The Drum Exchange actually began in Chicago, where a young Ed Hartman was making noise…

Found Kitty

Gary wrote to tell us that he found a cat a week ago and hasn't had any luck finding her owner: We live across the street from John Stanford International, and a week ago Sunday I was in bed when I heard a cat repeatedly meowing…I thought it was one of ours, so after hearing it for a while, went out and found a scared, hungry, thirsty little brown tabby right at the entrance to the JSIS basketball court/playground.  She clearly…

Or, maybe you had expected the lack of Wallingford representation, in which case you may not agree with the following assessment. But this was my take: There were 76 people in attendance during the Mayor's hour-long Town Hall. People were able to ask a…

Missing Cat

Jamila wrote to tell us about a missing cat around NE 54th St. at Latona: We think it's likely that she's trapped or hurt in the blocks near our house.  She has never strayed more than a few houses away from our yard. Here's a flier about the cat.

Wallingford *Evergreen* Pediatrics

As we reported back in August, Dr. Springer and the staff at Wallingford Pediatrics said good-bye to Wallingford at the end of September. Wallingford Pediatrics had served the community since 1981, helping generations of Wallingford kids grow up healthy and answering bazillions of new-parent questions for new Wallingford parents. Luckily, there wasn't a pediatric void in Wallingford for long! Evergreen Pediatrics of Kirkland bought the practice, and pediatrician Dr. Basma Raees began seeing clients on October 1. Dr. Springer wrote of his…
