Margaret Margaret December 20, 2012 Comments are off

Here are some events happening in the neighborhood this weekend:

Unsilent Night Friday, Dec 21 – Winter Solstice

HELLO FRIENDS and HAPPY WINTER!

The Seattle Composers’ Salon and Nosequitur are excited to be co-hosting (along with composer Josh Parmenter) this really fun event on December 21st. Details:6:30 PM The night starts at the Chapel Performance Space (link) up on the 4th floor, where we will all meet and organize the neighborhood path that we will take. From there, we will all load up our boom boxes (or iphones, mp3 players with battery-powered speakers, etc) and begin a slow holiday walk in and around Wallingford.

8:00 PM-ish We will gather back at the chapel for hot cider, snacks, music, and prizes.

You can come for the holiday walk and stay for the gathering, or just come for either one.

How to get the music: The point of the Unsilent Night is that we all will be playing the same music, but varied sections of the piece. There are several ways to participate:
1) You can bring a boom box and play a tape or CD that you make yourself from getting the download of the music.
2) You can bring your ipod with some battery-powered speakers and play the downloaded music.
3) You can download the new iphone app that Josh created which will randomly select sections of the piece for you. Plug your phone into some battery-powered speakers and you are set to go.
4) You can join us for the walk without providing sound, but instead be a human resonator.
