FCBenefitConcert
Last month, we told you about the sudden passing of Felipe Cañete – a Wallingford resident who performed with bands Luc and the Lovingtons and Sing with Señor.

A benefit concert will be held at the Neptune Theater (1303 NE 45th St.) this Saturday (June 15, beginning at 6:00pm), to honor Felipe. This is an all-ages show and the suggested donation is $10 at the door (to benefit Felipe’s family). Here are more details from the Seattle Theatre Group’s webpage:

Join us for a celebration with musicians playing in tribute to Felipe, who tragically died on May 17th of heart complications from a life-long heart condition. The funds donated at the door or online will support Felipe’s beloved wife Katy Lauzen Cañete and their baby son Rio Malai Cañete. If you are unable to attend, please consider a donation to the Cañete family fund, accessible online here.Felipe Cañete, 1976 – 2013, a native of Chile, lived in Seattle for the past 8 years with his wife Katy. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Talca in Chile and studied theater. As a child growing up in Chile, he performed as a singer and dancer in local festivals. Felipe was a musician and actor who brought those creative skills into teaching children Spanish in independent schools including Sacred Heart School in Bellevue, University Cooperative and Billings Middle School in Seattle, and through Sing with Señor with Soleil Kelley.

I wouldn’t miss a chance to see all these bands play in honor of Felipe. He is missed so deeply and touched our hearts in a way we will never forget. We are lucky to have known him and are better people for having his smile and laughter in our lives. Love to his wife Katy and beautiful boy, Rio Malai.
