Wallingford photographer, Rebecca Sullivan wrote to tell us some good news about the former Golden Olive space:

Just thought you might like to know, the Golden Olive space is being renovated by Sedat Uysal, the owner chef of Cafe Paloma in Pioneer Square. Maybe you know the place, it’s a very popular lunch/dinner place with a strong European cafe feel. Sedat is a well-known and beloved Seattleite and Cafe Paloma is a gathering place for artists, musicians, Pioneer Square business people etc. He’s opening up a dinner-only restaurant in mid-August. It will be a sophisticated restaurant with modern Turkish cuisine.

We spoke to Sedat in email and he confirmed that he’ll be opening BODRUM Bistro – named after a place he describes as a “magical small tourist town” in the southwestern Aegean Region of Turkey.

“BODRUM Bistro is going to represent Turkish Kitchen from every region,” Sedat writes. “We will make our own bread and will have serve cocktail as well as beer an wine.”

Born and raised in Turkey, Sedat studied Journalism at Ankara University, and worked for daily newspapers and other news agencies until he moved to Seattle in 1985.

Sedat opened Meze in Kirkland back in 1993 with a business partner. In 1996, he left the partnership to open Cafe Paloma, which he still owns and operates.

“Wallingford is  one of my favorite neighborhood in Seattle. I’m very happy that I will be part of the community,” he writes.

We’ll give you the scoop on the opening and menu once renovations to the space is complete.

    This sounds great.
Claims of the death of 45th as a vibrant dining area seem to have been greatly exaggerated.

This is FABULOUS news!! I’m a major fan of both Cafe Paloma and Sedat. It will
be SO nice to have one of his restaurants closer to home!

Super excited! We were sad to see Golden Olive leave, but it will be great to get a new cuisine on the street.
