Perfect Job Openings

3@2xWallingford (and Seattle’s) first cat cafe, Seattle Meowtropolitan, is getting closer to stretching its legs: they’re hiring!

The first job listed is “Feline Guardian (Cat Lounge Attendant)”:

A cat lounge attendant is responsible for serving customers and felines with respect and kindness. At Seattle Meowtropolitan, your knowledge, patience, loving nature, and enthusiastic passion for working with cats will ensure that we provide a nurturing and fulfilling environment in the cat lounge.

While this should come as no surprise to applicants, it is noted that “YOU WILL BE WORKING WITH CATS – if you have any complications working with felines, this position may not be right for you.” This involves not just meal prep for cats and “doing cat laundry”, but also “coming into contact with cat urine, feces, and potential bad smells – must not be squeamish.”

If that’s a bit too much cat for you, but you’re still feeling the cat love, they have a couple other positions open, as well.

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.

Anyone have an clues as to where this is opening?

Right, and just like in those other comments, no one bothers to give any indication of where “the old fuerte fitness” was…

    1. Phil

Fuerte Fitness used to be in the same building as Desert Sun Tanning, across the road from The Bounty.

Well, you can look it up. They have an address and telephone number.

It is on the south side of N 45th street, at the SW corner of 45th & Stone Way N

apologies – it is not the building on the corner that houses the Tanning place, it is one building to the west of it – green awnings

    Pun opportunity missed….

I know, right? The best I could come up with was “Perfect Job Openings”, but it was so lame, I couldn’t even bring myself to spell it “Purrfect”.

I walked by 2 days ago.. there is a lot of work yet to be done to be ready to open.. walls were not in, and of course no cat or people furniture.

    I wonder if they’ll let dogs in…

This is an awful idea! So many people are allergic to cats and would stay far away.

I understand something like 5 to 10% of the population have allergic reactions. Some strong, some mild enough that they can enjoy cat company anyway.

I think they’d be justified in keeping a dog out, but I could see a dog café opening up across the street.
