Final Seattle 2035 Open House, Thanksgiving Lunch at the WCSC

What are your plans amidst rain and wind? To decode the Voynich Manuscript? Bah, that’s child’s play, try to fix Seattle 2035. While we’ve lost all hope of changes given the election results, the WCC says you should do your civic duty. This comes to us from Frank of the WCC:

Seattle 2035 logoThe last Seattle 2035 Open House for public comments on the updated Comprehensive Plan is this Saturday November 14th, 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM, at North Seattle College. There is a presentation at 10:00 PM. The meeting is in the College Center (CC) building, and parking is free.

This is your opportunity to meet with City of Seattle staff and ask them questions about the Seattle 2035 Comprehensive Plan and the Housing Affordability and Livability Agenda (HALA) plan. You can come anytime during the Open House to view posters and to talk with staff.

The impact of these plans became more important this week after the City Council passed the “Grand Bargain” part of the HALA plan. See the “Seattle council approves fees portion of ‘grand bargain’ for affordable housing” article and the “Seattle City Council rushed to pass HALA’s ‘grand bargain’” editorial in the Seattle Times.

We encourage you to submit your opinions on the Seattle 2035 plan to the Department of Planning & Development (DPD) before the comment period ends after Friday November 20th. DPD suggests the http://seattle2035.consider.it website which is more of a discussion forum on specific plan sections. You can also comment by email, Facebook, Twitter, and by the website from the Get Involved page at http://2035.seattle.gov/get-involved.

Also, the Wallingford Community Senior Center soldiers on after the departure of Kathleen Cromp, who is sorely missed. She was always helpful and dedicated even when there was nothing in it for her or her organization. Victoria writes:

Eric

I've lived here since 1998. I spent 13 years at Microsoft as a developer and manager, concurrent with Ballmer's reign. I quit after seeing my third consecutive project cancelled, while my parents needed help, and my wife was getting stressed working at Seattle Public Schools. Since then, I have helped family and community while taking on side projects and volunteer work. I led the renovation of Meridian Playground, helped moderate the South Transfer Station design, helped advance the Green Lake Way road diet, and have guided several transportation and parks projects through neighborhood involvement. I wrote for Wallyhood for a while and was president of the Wallingford Community Council during the great recession, where thankfully, land use was not an issue. I'm an impatient moderate vegetarian who believes in practical win-win solutions.

‘tempat makan’ is spamming for, of all things, a cafe in Indonesia; they must have been drawn by the Satay article and comments.
