Happy Summer! Weekend Events or Traffic to Avoid

As we swing into summer, we enter the time of maximum community events and cultural happenings.  This weekend includes the Solstice Parade in Fremont and the Rock N Roll Marathon covering most of downtown and South Lake Union.

The Solstice Parade is the annual event in Fremont celebrating the start of summer at 1pm this Saturday.  They have  changed the start time this year to 1pm, and I have been somewhat amazed at the ripple effects on other events.  So even if you are not planning to attend, you still might want to check other event start times.   The naked cyclists have also changed their start time as well.

The Rock N Roll marathon has events on both Saturday and Sunday that start at UW stadium and then snake around the city.  The UW stadium and the Fremont Bridge are the closest course points to Wallyhood, but the traffic snarls will be felt all over.  For all the runners, good luck.  For the spectators, keep up the cheering.  For those who have not watched a marathon up close, it can be a lot of fun.  For those trying to avoid it all together, King County Metro has some suggestions.

A perfect weekend to walk. Whether your weekend activities are
Accordians, Breweries, Coffee shops… Wallingford has it all in walking
    distance!

Which direction would you walk in, for the accordions, and how far?

Not sure where you are coming from, but Petosa Accordions is 45th & 4th (east end of Wallingford 45th).

OK – been there, but fair enough. The notion of a weekend activity intersecting with accordions had me thinking in terms of accordion performance.

Sorry for the confusion – it started with “A” so I couldn’t resist

How far would you have to walk for the accordions, and in which direction?
