Wallingford business roundup 3/17

Katy March 16, 2020 2 Comments

Well, it’s been A WEEK. Things are changing so quickly in response to the coronavirus outbreak, it is hard to know what to do. So many of the small businesses that make our neighborhood so great are in danger of closing forever, and many of the most vulnerable in our community are teetering on the edge. Below are some ways you can support neighbors and local businesses while still maintaining social distance.

There has been a reduction in donations of groceries to food banks, and a donation to FamilyWorks, our local food bank, would be greatly appreciated.

Many businesses are closing (hopefully just) temporarily, but some restaurants and bars are offering takeout or delivery. A thoughtful neighbor on the Wallingford/Fremont Community Facebook group has already put together a spreadsheet of local businesses that are providing takeout meals. Check it out here. Note that things have been changing so quickly, it would make sense to call any business before showing up.

A few St. Patrick’s Day things to note:

  • Kate’s Pub will be selling a St. Patrick’s Day meal (pickup only) on 3/17 from 3-8 p.m. All proceeds go to the staff. Call ahead after 2 p.m. 206-547-6832 or just walk up and order.
  • Murphy’s Pub will also offer a St. Patrick’s Day takeout meal on 3/17 from 11 a.m. on. Stop by or call ahead to 206-634-2110.

And for our furry family members, Wally Pets is offering curbside pickup for phone or email orders. Just call 206-547-0301 or email [email protected] to place an order. More details can be found on their Facebook page.

Stay safe, stay home, and wash your hands!
