Mail Theft in the ‘Hood

As if there wasn’t enough to worry about of late…neighbor Everett posted this alarming notice on Facebook, and with his permission, we are sharing it here. He didn’t have detailed information on the affected routes, but thought it might be near Midvale Avenue North.

PSA for Wallingford Neighbors: Mail Theft/Postal Truck Break-in

If your mail is handled by the Wallingford Post Office, please take note.

I went to the post office today [Tuesday, March 31st] to check on a package that was scheduled for delivery last Tuesday, March 24th. I was informed that a postal truck was broken into while on its delivery route that morning, around 11 am.

The post office mentioned they are still waiting on instructions regarding a formal notice to affected residents. In the meantime, if you were expecting a package, bill, or sensitive mail that hasn’t arrived, you may want to monitor your financial accounts closely for potential identity theft.

For inquiries or reimbursement claims, they provided these numbers to call:

• US Postal Inspection Service: 877-876-2455

• USPS Customer Service/Consumer Affairs: 800-344-7779

If any further information comes our way, we will share it with you.
