April snuck past us, but we’re excited to share that May 21st is the next Wallingford Third Thursday Sip and Stroll event.
Matt Evans of Pacific Northwest Shop organizes the event and says:
Support your neighborhood small businesses by visiting them on the third Thursday of each month from April to September. Enjoy a beverage and other treats from 4 to 7 pm while you browse all that the Wallingford neighborhood businesses have to offer.

Support The Sock Monster
This month, we’re giving a big “shout out” to The Sock Monster, where owner Kathleen Tremaine is celebrating 16 years in Wallingford. They will have fresh-baked cookies and refreshments all week, and music on Saturday, May 23rd. Also, after a purchase, shoppers can spin a wheel for prizes like discounts and freebies.
The Sock Monster moved to its current location, on N 45th Street near Stone Way N, when the former location was razed in order to construct the building now called the Benton. It’s been a rough couple of years for the shop, with a notable decline in foot traffic due to the relocation and a recent break-in. Kathleen had to close the shop for a week to replace the glass door, run inventory on missing merchandise, and get new computers. On a brighter note, she said, “The support we received was truly incredible. The community asked how they could help, so we set up a GoFundMe. Within three days, we surpassed our $5,000 goal. Although this amount is still below what we lost due to closing and inventory costs, and because I need to restock until insurance comes through, the donations made a significant difference. It truly warmed my heart how much everyone cared about the store.”
