Fremont’s Hidden Gem: Urban Earth Nursery

lbush April 3, 2025 Leave a Comment

Madison, Operations Lead from Urban Earth Nursery, located at 1051 N 35th Street near Stone Way, recently approached Wallyhood about writing a post on their local nursery. I have known they’ve been in the neighborhood for many years, but, like I suspect many other of their potential customers, had no idea what this local nursery had to offer. In fact, I learned a nursery has been at this location since 1998, under various names and ownership.

Madison was especially keen to get the word out to “Wallingfordians” that there are gardening resources right in our backyard, especially for apartment/small-space gardeners, …

Neighborcare Health Campaign to Add Expanded Dental Care in Wallingford

The following story was submitted by Mary Schilder, Director of Marketing Communications for Neighborcare Health.

Neighborcare Health is expanding dental care at 45th Street Clinic

Only 18% of Medicaid users over age 21 in King County had a dental check-up in 2022. (Source: Arcora Foundation). Unmet dental health needs can lead to pain, reduced self-esteem, and risk of potentially life-threatening health conditions. Though the need is high, access to dental health remains out of reach for many in our community.

To address this need, Neighborcare Health is adding two more dental chairs at its historic 45th Street clinic …

lbush March 12, 2025 1 Comment

Recently, Claire and Kyra, two seniors at Lincoln High School who have been advocating for athlete health and safety concerns, approached Wallyhood to bring attention to this important issue that they have experienced firsthand.

“Through our own experience as student-athletes, we’ve seen firsthand the influence coaches have on their athletes. We have both experienced eating disorders at the …

lbush March 2, 2025 Leave a Comment

Did you ever wonder about your family roots or generating a detailed Family History Tree of your ancestors, or learning more of your ancestors?   Well, the Seattle Genealogical Society is here to help.   I have known about the Genealogical Society Library being located in Wallingford’s Good Shepherd Center but had never taken the time to visit or find out what it had to offer.

From the website, the Seattle Genealogical Society (SGS), founded in 1923 is an all-volunteer, non-profit educational organization devoted to their mission:

“The Seattle Genealogical Society empowers individuals to discover their family histories through education, collaboration, and …
