Future of Neighborhood Office & Events

Lee November 11, 2012 5 Comments

At Wednesday night’s meeting of the Wallingford Community Council, neighbors and representatives from the Wallingford Neighborhood Association (WNA), Wallingford Community Senior Center, Family Works and the Wallingford Chamber of Commerce joined the WCC to discuss the closure of WNA and what it means to our community.

After more than a decade of service to the neighborhood, the WNA Board voted to dissolve last month. The organization, which sponsored local events such as the Kiddies Parade, the Home Tour, the Garden Tour, the neighborhood office, and produced the Wallingford E-news, has struggled with a lack of monetary and volunteer resources. Its …

Future of Wallingford Community Events and Organizations

Lee November 6, 2012 3 Comments

Last month the Wallingford Neighborhood Office (Weaving Wallingford) decided to dissolve. The organization for more than a decade sponsored and provided important services to the neighborhood, including the annual Kiddies Parade, the Home Tour, the Garden Tour, the neighborhood office, the Wallingford E-news, and more.  The demise of these events will be a loss to Wallingford.

The Wallingford Community Council is sponsoring an open community discussion regarding the future of these Wallingford events and the role of other community organizations. We encourage everyone to come to the WCC meeting to be held this Wednesday at 7:00 PM in the Senior …

Skanska law reaches critical stage

Lee July 23, 2012 76 Comments

Ten months ago, the Wallingford Community Council appealed a City environmental review decision for a proposal to rewrite the Living Building Pilot Program (LBPP) to grant Skanska, a multinational billion dollar developer, special privileges allowing it to build a large office building at Stone Way and 34th. The building would rise to over 82 feet (including substantial roof top features) in a 45 foot zone within feet of the Lake Union Shoreline area.
