WCC Annual Meeting Wednesday

The Wallingford Community Council will hold its annual meeting on Wednesday, May 23, 7pm, Room 202 of the Good Shepherd Center. The featured speaker will be Seattle City Councilmember, Richard Conlin. The WCC will also elect directors and officers for the upcoming year, and consider changes to its bylaws. WCC/SPU Transfer Station Contract

Last Thursday, March 29th, Seattle Public Utilities and the Wallingford Community Council presented their agreement regarding the rebuilding of the North Transfer Station, along with supporting amendments to the land use code, to the City Council’s Planning, Land Use and Sustainability committee chaired by Councilmember Conlin. SPU presented a short visual summary of the benefits of the agreement to both the City and the community. Community Council Meeting Wednesday

The Wallingford Community Council will hold its March meeting at 7:00 PM, Wednesday March 7th at the Good Shepherd Center. Among the topics on the agenda are:

a petition to the city for a crosswalk on N. Pacific St. for John Stanford students, proposals to reduce fossil fuel use in Washington State, and an update on the Skanska project at 3400 Stone Way.

WCC and SPU Agree on Terms for Transfer Station Rebuild

The Wallingford Community Council (WCC) and Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) have been negotiating for more than eight months on the terms of a contract concerning the rebuilding of the North Transfer Station.  The WCC transfer station working group will present the terms of the contract and its recommendations for approval at the regular WCC meeting on Wednesday. The contract covers a wide variety of issues concerning the rebuilding of the transfer station such as changes to the land use code, public open space, building heights and setbacks, hours of operation, truck traffic, and monitoring and control of noise, odors and …

New Wallingford Park and Maritime Facility

The Wallingford Community Council will review two new recreational additions to Wallingford at the WCC’s meeting on Wednesday, January 4th.

The first involves a park-open space development in conjunction with the rebuilding North Transfer Station. Members of the Community Council have been negotiating for months with Seattle Public Utilities regarding contract details for the rebuild of the transfer station. Part of those negotiations concerns an open space and park development next to the site. Details of the project will be presented to the WCC Board for review and approval at its January meeting.
