Developing his skill over 10 years and around the world in over 30 countries, he now works in Seattle. He has received an Honorable Mention from the International Photography Awards and had his work shown at various venues in New England, his original home. Break Out Your Dancin’ Shoes

The Latin dance community in Seattle is a large and fast growing scene. You are able to dance, usually with a live band, almost every night of the week somewhere. Wallingford now has three of those night right in the center of our neighborhood. Babalu features Latin Mambo Night on Wednesday. Featuring live music by Cambalache a nine piece high energy Salsa band covering several styles from Salsa to Bachata to Mambo. Afternoon Arts and Crafts and Summer Camps

This past week was the beginning of the spring session of Arts and Crafts Classes at Fremont Community School. This is a drop-in program offered Monday through Thursday. Taught by Julia Freeman, a professional artist with training and recognition both home and abroad. Originally from Kansas City, Freeman now lives here in Seattle and recently received her MFA in Fibers from UW. Freeman developed this arts program from the ground up and takes pride in working with each child to bring out their innate talents.

Puppets for Families

Saturday afternoon Drew Derby, King County librarian, storyteller and puppet master, performed a benefit show in the Community Room at FamilyWorks. A packed house of about 100 attentive audience members, of all ages, were treated to several stories and songs from a wide range of traditions. Raising close to $400 dollars for FamilyWorks (well over the $2 suggested donation price), this event was a resounding success and very entertaining, even for the adults.

Early Childhood Education Resource

Wallyhood is proudly unveiling its newest neighborhood resource, this one for parents and those wishing they were. We now have an Early Childhood Education round-up of the preschool programs of Wallingford.

Our neighborhood is blessed with some very talented and passionate educators. It was my pleasure to tour these facilities and see first hand the top quality education opportunities that are right in our back yard.

GraceFeast, A Community Gathers

The fellowship hall at Gift of Grace Lutheran was filled today as the volunteers prepared and served a free hearty meal to the community. Everyone is welcomed at GraceFeast, the mission is to bring together neighbors and provide a meal to those who need it. Wedding Season Approaches

As our less than wintery winter plods along, many people are looking forward to spring for more then just the weather. As couples prep for the big day Wallingford has the icing on the cake, or more correctly, the cupcake. Trophy Cupcakes, in Wallingford Center, is holding tastings for couples interested in cupcake creations for their reception.
