Astute park watchers may have noticed that the Wallingford Park playground renovation seems to have stalled. Honestly, given the chain-link dismal state of things, even the somewhat dull-witted park watcher would be hard-pressed to miss it. We originally reported the plans for the renovation back in May and then Jack posted an update back in November that the renovation was underway. At the time, we understood that the renovations would be completed in December or January, but as the above photo…

There's some sort of electric thrill to enjoying a moment of world recognition, however indirect and minimal it might be. So imagine my shock and joy as I lay on the floor of the gym, headphones on, trying desperately to distract myself from the agony of ab crunches with a podcast of NPR's Selected Shorts, when I hear: "I just just moved into a house I had rented in Wallingford..." [What, OUR Wallingford? Or Wallingford, Connecticut, maybe?] "...a sleepy, liberal, family-oriented…

They've had a contract with the City to harvest the apples in Meridian Playground, and I think I've seen their nets on trees along the Burke Gilman trail. If you'd like to help this…

After a few months soliciting citizen input, City Light is on the verge of installing two electric vehicle (EV) chargers at Gas Works Park. Last Thursday, January 17, an open house was held at the John Stanford School to explain the plans. I headed over there to get the scoop. City Light plans to install 20 charging stations at 10-15 locations in Seattle according to their EV information webpage. Chargers are already installed on Beacon Hill not far from the light…

A cherry and ebony toolbox created as a student project last Fall. Note: Anyone who thinks they might be interested in Ebanista is invited to attend an open house on Saturday from 2 to 3 PM. Last Fall, the Ebanista School of Fine Woodworking opened its doors with its first lineup of classes as Ben wrote about here. While the school is located by Green Lake near Gregg's Cycles (not our usual beat), its owner, Jonathan Cohen, has been a Wallingford…
