Last Farmers Market Tomorrow

Rainbow at the Market Originally uploaded by SRDaly And THIS is why you might want to rent one of those apartments in the second floor of Wallingford Center. You'd get to take great photos like the one at right, taken by SRDaly and submitted to the Wallingford Flickr pool. Remember, the last Wallingford Farmers Market of the season is tomorrow, Wednesday September 30th from 3 - 7 pm. After that, you'll be pulling turnips from barren fields for your breakfast.

Postering

Chris sent in a reminder that postering is legal in Seattle. Apparently, some self-appointed pole cleaners have been pulling down signs unwarranted, including those for the Wallingford Walks. We've noticed that our Wallyhood signs tend to disappear from any pole on 45th St within hours, it seems, of going up, which is a frustration. We believe this blog is a useful service to the community, and whoever is "cleaning" 45th St is, in effect, depriving people of a free, useful news…

Wallingford Community Center

Wallingford Community Center, you ask? What Wallingford Community Center? Indeed! Phinney Ridge has its amazing Phinney Neighborhood Center, Ballard has a community Center, Laurelhurst has a community center. In fact, it seems like all the cool kids have a community center. What about Wallingford? Well, it seems our turn may be up. There is a belief among the Wallingford leadership that the city may be finding a spot in its budget to help Wallingford create a neighborhood community center. If so,…

Wurst Round-up and Photos

We hope you made it over to the Wallingford Wurst Festival this past weekend. You have nobody but yourself to blame. If, on the other hand, you did go, your child is still probably talking about the bouncy house, the bouncy slide, the other…

A Litany of Crime

We don't have any way to keep official count, but here's what we've heard of in the last week: Molly Moon's was robbed at gunpoint this past week. We don't have any more details of this, just heard it from two community leaders. Jon, who lives on 40th near I-5, twittered Saturday night: "Somebody broke in our back door. I am so done with this f***ing house" and "Nothing of mine was jacked, I don't think--and everyone is ok. But roomie…

Shaken

I'm feeling a bit shaken. Baby Z and I were walking back from the Wurst Festival about an hour ago, marveling at how packed Wallingford, when I looked across the street and saw a woman lying in the middle of the road, just off 45th on Sunnyside, outside the Erotic Bakery. We ran over (or hopped, my ACL is torn and running isn't possible, baby Z's stroller serves as my walker) and arrived at the same moment as a man from…
