Draft Zoning Maps Released for Wallingford

The city has released Wallingford’s draft MHA zoning map. Click here to download the PDF. Under this draft proposal, there would be no single family zoning left inside the urban village boundaries. The website includes instructions on how to interpret the map, which I recommend you read. In general, when you look at each zone on the map, our current zone is on the left and the new proposed zone is on the right. The most dramatic changes, where the city wants to…

Halloween decoration giveaway this Saturday

Santa Sharon has a deal for you. For more than 40 years, Sharon Ehrig decorated her home on Woodlawn Avenue North with thousands of Christmas lights and other decorations.  Her home was so brightly decorated that it was on the old-time Metro bus tour of Christmas lights for 10 years.  And for 18 years, Ehrig dressed in a Santa suit and sat on her front porch, rocking for hours as visitors passed by. Jazz and bacon

Brunch in Seattle? Hour-long waits; cold coffee; over-priced food; the cacophony of unruly children being ignored by hungover parents. There's nothing like it! The portables that have taken over the Hamilton playtop have been designated for eighth graders such as myself. I have three classes in the portables as do many of my friends.…

Many of our staff have never met the neighbors who read our blog and help make Wallyhood what it is. And vice versa. We want to change that. Writers, come meet your editors! Editors, come meet your writers! And readers, come meet the folks who put Wallyhood together day in and day…

Restaurant News – Wallyhood Edition

Here is a small list of restaurant changes in our hood. I snapped this picture of Bar Charlie in the newly finished Bowman Building. It's not open yet, but it has a Facebook page. The Brooks Building will be getting a new tenant in the retail space that faces N 35th Street. I saw an application for a liquor license from the Heavy Restaurant Group posted outside. They operate Purple among other restaurants. Yoroshiku, a favorite of mine when it comes to ramen,…
