Garden Tour Report

Anyone who as out Sunday was sure to notice the clusters of people wandering the byways of Wallingford, colorful booklets clutched in their hands. It was, of course, the annual Wallingford Garden Tour, a self-guided meander through 12 of the most splendid yards Wallingford has to offer. Mrs. Wallyhood and Baby Z were our roving reporters for the day. There was a healthy, steady stream of visitors at all the gardens visited and the hosts were friendly, welcoming and happy to…

Tangletown Notes

With all the hubbub on 45th, it's easy to forget the second center of Wallingford, up Tangletown way (centered around N. 56th St). Sounds like things are shaking up there: First, Tangletown has thrown its hat into super premium ice cream the ring. Jenn tips us off that Hiroki, already well known for their jaw-droppingly delicious desserts, is now serving handmade ice cream, as well. Double scoop, please. Second, Jenn and Kimberly tip us off that Meridian Market (2201 N. 56th…

Evening Magazine

Word on the street is that KING 5's Evening Magazine filmed a piece at Archie McPhee's and surrounding area Wednesday night, to have been aired at 7 pm tonight (Thursday). Despite being quite satisfied with our TV-less household, we would have liked to have seen what they had to say (and had we known earlier, we would have let you know). Anyone catch the show? Or do we have to wait until it hits the Internets to learn more?

Dump Update

The battle over the future of the dump...err...Transfer Station down on 34th St and Stone Way continues. As background, the city is proposing to completely redo the transfer station to make it more environmentally sound and to reduce the impact on the neighborhood. Many neighbors, perhaps suspecting that this will simply lead to expanded use of the station, perhaps hoping that any change is a wedge to simply make it go away or perhaps hoping that by dragging out the process,…
