McDonald School Project: Volunteers Needed

The McDonald School Project (a neighbor-driven project to install new playground equipment at 54th Ave N and Latona) is looking for volunteers this weekend: Friday (May 29th) Playground installation will begin on Friday morning between 9 AM and 10 AM. Friday is when the major/large posts for the play structure are installed. A name of the playground installer is Lew. Mighty Mighty-O

Congratulations to Mighty-O Donuts, voted Best Doughnut in Seattle by the Stranger's Reader's poll. Top Pot also makes a fine donut in our opinion, but we're glad to see the much over-rated, airy and cloying Krispy Kreme takes its spot down the runners-up list. Also great to see an organic, animal-product free doughnut like Mighty-O take the nod. Our only sore spot is the total absence of free samples being delivered to certain members of the hyperlocal press.

Medical Marijuana Bust?

This just in through our Tips line: Looks like there is a medical marijuana bust on Wallingford Ave between 37th and 38th.  Police around all day.  There are news cameras and a small crowd there now waiting for the cops to move the plants.  This is mostly according to well-informed rumors from people in the small crowd.  But I have personally seen the cops there all day. Anyone know anything else?
