Tree Hack

Lesli noticed that there are 12 trees marked for removal / destruction along the Burke Gilman where Pacific turns into 34th, across from Gas Works. The signs said that the trees are unhealthy, but she thought they looked alright, so she contacted the Seattle City Arborist, Lou Stubecki. Lesli tells us that Lou replied that the owner of the building the trees are in front of (and perhaps blocking the view from) has been illegally hacking away at the trees for…

Red Robin No More

DOUG. sent in this shot of the spot where the original Red Robin sat, just across the University Bridge, adding: GONE!!! I rode my bike by it yesterday, and I believe it was still standing. Today, it is no more. It's just toppled wood siding, piled like a bottomless plate of fries.   (He sent this in a week or two ago, so sorry for the old news)

Market Countdown and Music (but not there)

The Wallingford Farmers Market is winding up for the year: we have only three market days left: it runs 3:30 - 7:00 PM Wednesdays through September 24th in Meridian Park. This week's cooking demonstration (4 - 5 pm) will be from Chef Brian Gojdics of Tutta Bella. Get your veggies while you can. And if you have kids, it's a great day to bring them to the park, as the playground is always brimming that day. If the market isn't to your taste,…

He stopped in the entry either listening for an audible alarm or seeing if there was anyone here. He rummaged through our papers/front desk area without getting into any of our locked cabinets (luckily), but stole some clothing…

Garage Sale Coming Up?

Thinking of having a garage sale? We are, this coming weekend (Sept 13 and 14th), and you should, too. Ours should be epic, full of years of Burning Man costumes, lights, furniture, rafts, tools, mens clothes, women's clothes, books, camping gear, appliances, and pretty much everything you ever wanted to find at a garage sale except a broken exercycle. I figure that garage sales do better in clumps, since once you get people in the neighborhood, they tend to float to…

Have you found or lost a bike?

Update: The found bike below has been reunited with its owner! But keep reading to learn how to register your bike and check SPD's list of recovered bikes. We discovered an abandoned bike on our street this morning. Meanwhile, neighbors around the corner reported their bike stolen from the back porch. I sent over a picture, but it's not the same bike! What are the odds? Well, pretty high, probably. KING 5 reports there are 200 bikes still unclaimed in SPD…
