At age five, I was organizing tea parties with Cabbage Patch dolls and My Little Pony make believe horse shows; five-year-old Lucas Engles-Klann is organizing this Sunday, October 3rd's Third Annual Dine Out for Animals Silent Auction, Make-Your-Own Pizza Dinner (vegetarian of course), and Fundraiser held at Elemental and Elemental Next Door from 2:00 - 7:00 p.m.  The space has been graciously donated by Phred Westfall and Laurie Riedeman. It was awesome enough when they just called it "Zoo Doo". Now, with a name like "Fall Fecal Fest", how can we resist? Think chicken manure grows your tomatoes large? Try elephant manure! Saving the Nocturnal Zoo

The Phinneywood blog has the scoop on a group of folks trying to save the nocturnal exhibit at the Woodland Park Zoo: Woodland Park Zoo announced in November that it will close its Nocturnal House exhibit for budget reasons.
