Continuing our series of schools within the Wallingford attendance area, here’s a look at John Stanford International School.

As a part of the Seattle Public Schools, John Stanford International School is a nationally acclaimed and award winning K-5 elementary school right in the heart of Wallingford.  Students who attend John Stanford International School (JSIS) will learn half the day in either Spanish or Japanese.

New Irwin’s Underway

Construction is underway for a new Irwin’s Neighborhood Bakery and Cafe at 301 NE 65th Street in Green Lake.  Irwin’s is already home to two other locations: Wallingford (2123 N. 40th St.) and Eastlake (1201 B. Eastlake Ave. E.).  The new location will be on the corner of 65th and Latona, where PetDaddy was before someone crashed their truck into the store last year.

Wallingford Greenhouse Project Needs Volunteers

Calling all Wallingford green thumbs!

The Greenhouse Project is looking to recruit some volunteers to help grow fresh and organic produce for local food banks.  Volunteers will be dedicating their time towards growing thousands of vegetable starts in a lower Wallingford greenhouse, which then will be distributed by Lettuce Link to P-Patches around the city.  All vegetables will then be donated to food banks.

If you’re interested in volunteering for the local greenhouse project there is an orientation and workshop on Saturday, February 26, 10:00am-12:00pm at Solid Ground (1501 North 45th Street).
