What is new and Different at the Wallingford Parade 2024

Rhonda Bush July 1, 2024 Comments are off

The folks at Celebrate Wallingford, Celebrate Wallingford, are planning a fun community event on July 13th starting at 11:00 a.m. with the Wallingford Parade that organizes at Meridian Park and ending at the Wallingford Playfield for a Picnic at the Park—a park to park event!

Now in its seventh decade in Wallingford, this Seafair parade has morphed from the Wallingford Kiddie Parade into the more inclusive, Wallingford Parade, and promises fun and a new opportunity for a Picnic in the Park following the parade at the Wallingford Play Field.

Starting at Bagley Ave. N., parade participants will walk …

Pickleball: Great Fun or Annoying Noise

Daniel June 28, 2024 1 Comment

Pickleball is a very popular game. It is easy to learn, it is social, it doesn’t cost a lot to get started and you don’t have to be a great athlete to enjoy it. You can have a great workout and lots of fun no matter how good you are.

Pickleball is also driving neighbors near Wallingford Park crazy with its annoying noise. A Wallyhood reader sent us a note about noise from pickleball games at the Wallingford Park (park website) that have been starting very early in the morning. We decided to look into the problem, what the rules …

The Sock Monster on the Brink

Gary Shigenaka June 25, 2024 5 Comments

It has been hard not to notice how re-development has reshuffled the deck of Wallingford business district buildings: the gaping space where the dearly departed Guild 45th theatres stood, and the newer leveled and now excavated portion of the block where the Fainting Goat and The Sock Monster once resided. It’s all in the name of progress, Seattle-style. More housing density: Make it so! And don’t bother with on-site parking, because we like to pretend that cars aren’t necessary!

But, I digress…This story is really a focused look at one of those businesses that was displaced by one of …

Our neighbor, Ann Ishimaru, would like the neighborhood to know of a benefit concert performed by her son’s cello instructors, the King-Leiferman Duo to be held on Saturday, June 29th at 1pm at the Good Shepherd Center Chapel. For this concert they will be joined by Beth Grimmett-Tankersley as they perform Shostakovich Sonata. Prokofiev Sonata and the Menotti Suite for two cellos and piano. Jack June 20, 2024 Comments are off

With the weather we’ve been having recently, you may have thought that summer is already here. But it is not. And that’s because we have not yet had the Fremont Solstice Parade. The fair will take place Saturday and Sunday, June 22 and 23.

As in past years, the fair will feature music, craft vendors and food in addition to the human and dog parades. This year’s Fair will feature some 300 vendors. …
