Neighborcare Health Campaign to Add Expanded Dental Care in Wallingford

The following story was submitted by Mary Schilder, Director of Marketing Communications for Neighborcare Health.

Neighborcare Health is expanding dental care at 45th Street Clinic

Only 18% of Medicaid users over age 21 in King County had a dental check-up in 2022. (Source: Arcora Foundation). Unmet dental health needs can lead to pain, reduced self-esteem, and risk of potentially life-threatening health conditions. Though the need is high, access to dental health remains out of reach for many in our community.

To address this need, Neighborcare Health is adding two more dental chairs at its historic 45th Street clinic …

Seattle Public Library University Branch Getting a Makeover

Elizabeth Connolly March 14, 2025 Leave a Comment

Seattle Public Library patrons in Wallingford have several choices about where to visit the library. The Wallingford Branch is conveniently located right in the neighborhood, but depending on where your other errands take you, perhaps you prefer the Fremont Branch or, like me, the University Branch.

I was surprised to learn in January that the University Branch was scheduled to close for renovations on January 29, not to reopen until late 2026! My held items were automatically moved to the Northgate Branch, which is not convenient for me, but a University Branch librarian helpfully transferred all of my items …

Lincoln High School Student-Athletes: a Story of Courage and Inspiration

lbush March 12, 2025 1 Comment

Recently, Claire and Kyra, two seniors at Lincoln High School who have been advocating for athlete health and safety concerns, approached Wallyhood to bring attention to this important issue that they have experienced firsthand.

As they noted, “Over the past several years, we’ve been working toward legislative changes by meeting with state legislators, organizing coach workshops and educational events together, and rallying our peers to address gaps in coaching education that directly impact young athletes’ well-being.

“Through our own experience as student-athletes, we’ve seen firsthand the influence coaches have on their athletes. We have both experienced eating disorders at the …

Coffeeholic House: Vietnamese Coffee Shop to Open in Wallingford This Spring

ash.nash March 10, 2025 Leave a Comment

Coffeeholic House, “Seattle’s Vietnamese coffee haven,” is set to open in Wallingford this spring.

It will be located in the retail space of the Chronicle apartments on Wallingford Avenue N near N 45th Street, but the exact opening date is unknown to the public.

Coffeeholic, self-proclaimed as Seattle’s first Vietnamese coffee shop, brings a unique coffee experience to the area. They specialize in coffee “steeped in tradition and served with a modern twist,” the website reads.

Coffeeholic isn’t the first Vietnamese coffee place in this part of town, with Aroom located less than a mile away on Stone Way N …

Wallingford vs. Wallingford: A Faceoff

Megan Dulgar Okabayashi March 9, 2025 5 Comments

When I first moved to Seattle’s Wallingford neighborhood, I joined a few local Facebook groups to get more connected with the community. It wasn’t until later that I realized one of them was actually for Wallingford, Connecticut. I never left the group—and over time, I became oddly invested in their town debates and local drama.

Last week, someone in the Connecticut group asked AI to roast their town and turned it into a humorous tourist video. Inspired, I decided to see what AI had to say about both Wallingfords in a side-by-side comparison.

And so, for your amusement…

Seattle, WA, …

Hi Readers,

Meet Baxter, 11 pounds of fluff and friskiness. I met him a couple weeks ago when it was chilly and he was relishing the sunshine. He can be found cruising the streets nearly every day, greeting all who cross his path. So if you see Baxter on the street, get ready to smile!

Pup’s Name: Baxter

Breed and Age: Toy Poodle, 5 years old

Human Companions: Christina and Ryder

What makes Baxter fabulous: He’s a total love-bug – happy to greet any and all people or dogs (except maybe one? Every dog’s gotta have a little mystery.)

What’s …
