Dick’s Unveils New Poster

  • Post author:

How did we miss this? Tipsters, work with us, here! We depend on you to bring us the news, and we have to go to the Queen Anne blog to find out something happening in our own neighborhood?

Apparently, a Dick Spady, founder of Dick’s Drive-In, held a press conference at his Wallingford store (the original Dick’s, we might add) to unveil the winner of the first ever Dick’s poster design contest today. Best we can tell from the web site, either today, or Friday, or maybe all week, Dick’s is featuring 1954-style $.10 Cokes and 2 for 1 hamburgers and cheeseburgers.

We were not there. We were not informed. We’re a bit miffed.

Also, we’re partial to their milk shakes, which are not on sale. The whole thing has us in a bad mood.

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.

I saw them having a 55th anniversary shindig this morning with a bunch of classic cars in the parking lot, but that was the first I’d heard if it as well.
