We do not use our cell phone while driving. We certainly don’t send text messages when driving. We have a friend, though, who loves to knit while he drives. Not quite sure how he pulls it off, but he does, and we have one ill-fitting but otherwise attractive sweater to prove it.
We were reminded of this by a recent mail we got from Karen:
Just
wanted to tip you that I took a class last weekend at Bad Woman Yarn, and it was a great experience. Lee Burrow, the owner, was a long-time Wallingford resident who moved to Oregon with her husband, opened a knitting shop in Manzanita, then moved the whole business up here to be back in Wallingford near her family. Her story is a candy store for knitters and hopefuls (like me) — a kaleidoscope of textures and colors that inspires the imagination. And she gave my friend Rachel and I an excellent, hands-on lesson! We had a really nice time talking with her, and she barely took her eyes off our purl stitches, to make sure we were getting it right. She’s also got a regular, free drop-in knitting night on Wednesday evenings.
How can you turn down a plug like that? Check out the Bad Woman Yarn web site for a full schedule or drop in on their Wednesday “open knitting session” from 6 – 8 pm.
We haven’t seen a “kaleidoscope of textures and colors” since our college days, so we may just need to check it out.

"It goes beyond picking fabulous green products: sustainable architecture considers lifestyle choices and the wake we leave as we move through design and construction.”

I just want to add that the folks in this store are very welcoming of children of all ages. I took my girls (7 and 5) in to buy some yarn for projects and the staff (not sure of name) helped them use the special yarn-rolling machine and very patiently explained the entire process.
