Bella Cosa Renewed

  • Post author:

The signs were all there. From her perch across the street at Chocolati, Mandy L. noticed “40 – 70% off” signs in Bella Cosa’s window. Then Christine tweeted us:

bella cosa under new management…no more salumi meats or imported cannoli cream. sniff sniff

Now, Rachel F. has given us the full story, forwarded from Bella Cosa’s mailing list:

bellacosaAs most of you already know, Bella Cosa is under new ownership. My wife and I have purchased the business from Lin and Alex and are looking forward to continuing the exceptional service you all have come to expect. My name is Jared Carpenter and my wife is Bronwen Carpenter. Our goal is to continue on the path the Lin and Alex set forth, but we are both very passionate about the Pacific Northwest and what it has to offer and would like to start integrating more products from this great region. I feel it is very important to support our local farmers, cheese makers, coffee roasters and charcuterie specialists.

We have plans to add a full professional kitchen and not only feature local products, but provide you with these products made in-house from scratch. A professional chef has signed on to run the kitchen operations and has the ability to impress even the toughest of critics. Also, an imediate addition is we have added a breakfast service that starts at 8am every day but Sunday. Starting Monday we will be offering fresh rolled pasta and Gnocchi made in-house. Be sure to keep checking in weekly for new and exciting additions to our ever expending menu. Please feel free to stop in and say hi, we love Wallingford and look forward to being a part of this community. We both are very excited to meet and learn a little bit more about all of you!

Welcome to the neighborhood, Jared and Bronwen, and big ups for the supporting the locavore movement. Don’t let Christine down, keep up the good eats.

We also hope your menu is expanding, rather than expending. We’ve got enough expending going on in our lives already.

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.

Wow. I loved Bella Cosa (when I could afford it) but this sounds even better. Big thumbs up!

I have high hopes. I’ve been saddened by Bella Cosa’s contraction since Emily and Dan sold it a couple years ago. House-made gnocchi? Yum!

I’m hoping they keep the Salumi Salami

Yes! More salumi and freshmade cheese; maybe not so many little tiny jars of stuff that costs $20.
